See It! Stop It! All Kids Need Music April 2022 Newsletter

I hope you are doing well.  And thank you for caring about abused and neglected U.S. orphans.  If you didn’t care, you wouldn’t take the time to read our newsletter – I appreciate it!  It takes caring people to change the lives of these vulnerable children who have suffered so much at the hands of people who should have been their protectors.

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.  Prevention is absolutely the best cure to child abuse  It involves all of us being mindful of the well-being of children around us,, and the willingness to reach out to distressed families before they snap.  There are many campaigns run every April to educate the public about prevention, and we are so grateful.  In the meantime, there are almost half a million children in the U.S. foster care system, and approx. 65,000 U.S. children whose parental rights are severed annually, making them orphans in the care of state child welfare agencies.

Once in the foster care system, they can usually heal from the physical abuse.  The emotional scars are much more difficult to heal. When what they really need is love and stability, the reality is that children in foster care move three to four times a year, often with their belongings in a garbage bag or pillowcase. These moves frequently requires changing schools, losing friends and teachers that have become familiar, and a much-needed source of support. It is estimated that foster children lose six months of educational progress each time they have to move.

The older a child is when they enter the system, the greater the odds are that they will remain in the foster care system until adulthood, when they leave the system at age 18. Every year, an average of 23,000 children leave the U.S. foster care system to face the world alone. Over 20% of these children become homeless the very same day they leave the system.  They are at high risk for numerous tragic outcomes. The boys experience high incarceration rates. Many of the girls are victims of sex trafficking. Drug abuse, homelessness, and mental health issues are also serious risks for the children who age out of the foster care system.

This is exactly why what All Kids Need Music does is so very important.  We have to act now to help them heal! It’s something that state child welfare systems don’t provide – emotional healing for broken, scarred hearts and minds.  Therapeutic music lessons are proven to help heal PTSD and improve educational outcomes.  These children urgently need your help to heal!

We can’t do it without you.
Instead of losing six months of ground every time these foster children have to move, you can help them improve academically to give them a chance to go to college.  You can help them heal emotionally so that they are strong enough to navigate life without addiction.  Your help will give them the mental stamina to hold a job because they learn discipline in their music therapy.  It’s not their fault that they were abused and neglected. These children urgently need your help to heal –  to have a chance at a productive adult life.

Please help – every dollar counts.  Just $25 goes a long way towards monthly musical instrument rental!

Can you help with $25 a month? Maybe the cost of just 5 Starbucks, or one trip through the drive-thru? It’s not much to you but it is life changing to these children who have suffered far more than any child should ever have to.

Individual Champions

There are so many ways for individuals to help change the lives of foster children.

Choose a child or children to sponsor for a year.  You can choose to cover the costs of the child’s instrument and lessons, just the lessons, or just the instrument.  You can also choose to give to the area of greatest need.  You can make a single gift or a monthly recurring gift.  And remember, it changes childrens’ lives and is tax deductible as an additional benefit to you.

Business Champions

Businesses that sponsor music lessons and instrument rental for at risk children are first and foremost changing the lives of the most vulnerable children in the U.S. As a thank you for the generosity of our business partners, we provide an effective platform for businesses to build their brand around their corporate generosity.

Research proves that corporations that give back have a significantly higher brand appeal and loyalty rate. Corporations engaged in social good also positively impact their own employees at work satisfaction and company loyalty. Being a champion for at-risk children provides the opportunity for employees to stay in touch with their sponsored child, providing a source of joy and sense of being cared about for children who in many instances have been terribly abused and discarded.

We urgently need your help for thousands of U.S. orphans living in group homes and shelters around our country.  These orphaned children have already experienced so much pain and loss from unimaginable child abuse and neglect.  They need the opportunity to heal through the therapy of playing a musical instrument.   We are an IRS registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and your generous gift is tax deductible. As a result of our financial transparency and integrity, we have been awarded the Guidestar Gold Transparency Seal.  You can trust us that your tax deductible gift goes to change abused orphans lives.  Please do what you can to help these children!
